The InTowner

An Independent Voice for Washington, DC

The InTowner

The InTowner newspaper began publication in Washington, D.C., in 1968. Peter Wolff bought the paper in 1985 and kept it in continuous publication until his sudden death in April 2020. With the agreement of his life partner, I will continue, for now, The InTowner’s coverage in this pared-down online format. The purpose is to continue providing local news coverage that impacts DC residents citywide, but especially in Dupont Circle and surrounding neighborhoods. I hope it will honor Peter’s legacy as a publisher, editor, and friend.

I envision a weekly mix of spot news coverage with longer news analysis articles that meet Peter’s high standards for objectivity, balance, and community interest. When possible, I will add pages for community events, art and theater reviews, and opinion pieces. I am anxious to hear story ideas and other suggestions from readers. Previous and new contributors to The InTowner also are encouraged to submit story ideas. — WGS
